Huoxiaer Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Huoxiaer Coal Mine, Uyitak, Akto County, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It was named by Yang Jiduan and Li Peixian in 1994.

Lithology and Thickness
The Lower section is gray, gray-green mudstone, siltstone, sandstone with coal, the bottom is conglomerate and volcanic rock, 390.7 m thick. Middle section is gray-green andesite and andesite breccia, 518 m thick. Upper section is gray massive conglomerate with coal, 49.6 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The bottom is false conformable contact with the underlying Permian conglomerate (Duwa Fm).
Upper contact
The top is in fault contact with the overlying Lower Jurassic (Shangmei Fm is indicated on schematic stratigraphic column; but is not yet listed in the Jurassic Lexicon suite).
Regional extent
This formation is distributed in Aketao County, Yingjisha County and other places.

Plant: Neocalamites coremoides, N. haerensis, Cladophlebis asiatica, Podozamites lanceolatus, Megaspores: Trileites-Verrutriletes-Hughesisporites assemblage, Microspores: Dictyollidites (Osmundacidites)-Baculati- sporites-Nonstriate bisaccata (Cycodopites) assemblage.

Depositional setting
It is interpreted as lake marsh deposits.
